After two decades in architecture and training as a movement pedagogue in Rosalia Chladek’s method, I’ve been devoting myself to the performing arts for almost 10 years, with the creation and development of the heritage project, danse! which became DANSE DANZA TANZ! in September 2024.

Since 2013, first in dance workshops – contact improvisation, contemporary, modern, classical, as part of my Chladek studies, participating in public performances – Jérôme Bel, Tina Mantel, Did Schaffer, Alicia Frankovic and then in my own creations – Sie, Er und Ich, To get there… together! I have acquired artistic and organizational skills in dance and movement. As history has always been for me an essential angle of observation and understanding of the world, I very quickly apprehended that of dance as constitutive of contemporary creation, with Rosalia Chladek and Rudolf Laban or Trisha Brown and Steve Paxton.

In 2016 I had the opportunity to train in artistic and scenic project management, building a second pillar of skills and putting my knowledge of project management to good use. Between 2017 and 2022 I accompanied various artists and companies in their creations – Compagnie Digestif à Sidres (Jennifer Skolovski, Carina Pousaz), T42dance (Misato Inoue, Félix Duméril) and Camp Zéro (Johnannes Dullin) in Bern, Les Mémoires d’Hélène (Martina Momo Kunz), Infinite Cooperation (Yanna Rügger) and Femto Practice (Émilia Giudicelli) in Zurich, and Fréquence Moteur (Valentine Paley) in Vevey.

In June 2015 I attended the 9th edition of danse en amateur et répertoire in Paris, and supported by Margrit Bischof, we initiated the Swiss version together and supported by a commission and an executive committee, the first edition of which was held in June 2019 at the Südpol in Kriens (LU). This beautiful project fascinates those who are touched by its ability to bring people together and motivate exchange, whatever it manages to trace its flight in the Swiss dance landscape.

In the end, I realized that it’s interactions and collaborations with people from different backgrounds, generations and genres that motivate my own work. By keeping an open eye, a great deal of tolerance and a discreet curiosity, it’s the fluidity of genres and ideas that drives me to question, to seek, and ultimately to make possible through proposals. Balancing what brings us together against the toxicity of differentiation and boundaries, „building bridges as access routes over worlds, and always looking for laterality“ (B. Latour), I remain convinced that movement and dance gesture open up new and constantly repeated ways of being together in the World.

Born and raised in Paris, after living in Berlin and Beijing, I’ve been living in Zurich since 2002. In 2024, for personal reasons, I changed my first names from Thomas, Jacques to Toma, Alice. Father of Nora (2004) and Mattia (2007).
